Rick Maddox: 2010 International President

Richard A. Maddox, was installed on November 13, 2009, as international president of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. He currently is a supervising building inspector with the Clark County Development Services Department, Inspections Division, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this position, he supervises a staff of ten to twelve inspectors.

Rick began his career in inspections in 1986, with Pacesetter Building Services as an inspector in the city of San Dimas and city of Palmdale, California. He was also employed by the city of Hesperia, California, for six years prior to coming to Clark County, Nevada, in 1995. In addition to his current position within the department, he has held the positions of inspector II, senior combination inspector, senior electrical inspector and electrical training specialist with Clark County prior to obtaining his current position in 2004.

Prior to becoming an inspector, he worked in his family’s business as general contractors. He also holds journeyman and master electrician credentials, as well as a degree in inspection technology. He holds professional certifications in building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. He is a member of IAEI, NFPA, and ICC.

He served as the 2006 Southwestern Section president and is a member of that section’s Education Committee. Rick was also the recipient of the Southwestern Section’s Artie’s Apple Award given annually in honor of Art Buxbaum for an individual’s dedication and contribution to education within the Southwestern section.

Rick continues to be active in the Southern Nevada Chapter in which he served eight years as the president and as track coordinator for the electrical track for the ICC Educode Conference. He also chairs that chapter’s education committee. In 1994, he received the High Country Chapter of ICBO award for the Inspector of the Year. He has served on various committees on the local, regional, and national levels.

He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He and his wife, Beth, have been married for thirty-four years; they have two grown children and two grandsons. Over the past thirty-four years, they have lived in Oklahoma, Colorado, California and Nevada.

Rick has been active as a scout leader for over twenty years and has served scouting as a scoutmaster, Eagle Scout chairman, and has held various other positions with the Boy Scouts of America. In his free time, he teaches and enjoys hunting and fishing.
