The State of California Building Standards Commission voted to adopt the 2017 National Electrical Code, effective January 1, 2020. The commission also voted to adopt the 018 Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes, 1018 International Existing Building Code, and the California Green Building Code (CALGreen).
These model codes with California amendments comprise the 2019 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, and California Code of Regulations. These adopted codes will be published on July 1, 2019, and after a 180-day statutorily required waiting period, will become effective on January 1, 2020.
